Ultimate and Final Doom by id Software

You will need to have the current Assassin 3D Direct Input Drivers.

To be really safe you should save a copy of the System Registry before you do any editing. To do this you will need to make a copy of two files. I suggest you copy these two files to a floppy disk. the file names are System.dat and User.dat. They are located in your Windows folder. If for any reason your system fails to operate after you have edited the registry you can copy these two files back into the Windows folder and restart your machine.

These directions will work for Ultimate Doom 95 and Final Doom 95. Once you make these changes for one of these games the other will automatically be set up as they use the same System Registry information.

The first thing you need to do is create a new configuration.

      1. Start a Game of Doom95.
      2. While at the Windows 95 Launcher select Configuration.
      3. Under Current Configuration Name, choose Default.
      4. Click on Copy Configuration.
      5. Type in Assassin 3D and click OK.
      6. Click OK on the Configuration window.
      7. Click on New Game from the Windows 95 Launcher.
      8. Once the game starts you can tap Escape and Quit.

The second thing you need to do is to edit the System Registry Information.

      1. Open Regedit, Click Start, Click Run, Type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
      2. We need to open folders to the location of Doom95 configurations, Click the plus signs next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then, Software, then, ID, then, Doom95, then, Config.
      3. Then click on our new config setting, Assassin 3D.
      4. You should see the new Assassin 3D Highlighted.
      5. These next 10 steps are on the right side of the screen, locate and then,,,
      6. Double click on joy_axis_map. This will bring up an Edit String dialog box.
      7. In the Value Data area edit to read yuX and click OK.
      8. Double click on joy_move_threshold. This will bring up an Edit String dialog box.
      9. In the Value Data area edit to read 1000, make sure Hexadecimal is selected and click OK.
      10. Double click on joy_turn_threshold. This will bring up an Edit String dialog box.

      13. In the Value Data area edit to read 2, make sure Hexadecimal is selected and click OK.
      14. Exit Regedit, Click on the menu item Registry, then click on Exit

The Doom95 launcher will let you assign weapons and actions to joy buttons 1-4. If you want to assign your weapons to the unsupported buttons, follow these steps

      1. Open Regedit, Click Start, Click Run, Type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
