The Assassin 3D requires a full game card (4 analog axes and 4 buttons) to operate. Some inexpensive game cards only support 2 analog axes and 2 buttons. These cards do not allow the Assassin 3D digital protocol to operate.
If you are experiencing problems please take a look at our Incompatible Game Ports.
Due to the Digital properties of the Assassin 3D you may experience some if not all the Gameport incompatibilities as the Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro. Click the links below to check out the Microsoft Knowledge Base information on the Sidewinder 3D Pro.

If you are having problems with either the configuration program (ASSASSIN.EXE) or movements while playing a supported game, follow the steps below. The way you can tell that you have an incompatible Gameport is while you are on the second screen of the configuration program (ASSASSIN.EXE) you will see no numbers located below "Current Values".
This may be tough due to the different types of hardware that you may have. Some computers will have a Gameport on the motherboard, most sound cards will have a Gameport and there are stand alone Gameports. The only way to really check this is to look at the back of your computer to see how many 15 pin connectors you may have. If you only have one 15 pin connector, Proceed to the next step.
If you see two 15 pin connectors look to see if one of them is on your sound card ( you should see microphone and speaker jacks). Also look to see if the other one is on a stand alone card (right next other connectors like the sound card or modem) or possibly connected directly to the motherboard (usually along the bottom of the case near where the monitor, mouse and printer plugs in (usually Packard Bell)). Decide which Gameport you want to use or have been using as we will want to make sure that the second one is disabled.
Disabling a mother board Gameport will involve going into your
BIOS or CMOS setup (If you do not know how to do this please do
not try, call or visit a computer technician for help). As part
of your BIOS/CMOS setup you will need to find where the Gameport
controls are located and make sure it is disabled.
Disabling a sound cards game port is usually done using the sound
cards configuration utility and should be mentioned in the sound
cards documentation.
The steps to do this are outlined on the Errors from the Joystick applett page under the heading "Too many Active Gameport Joystick Drivers".
Usually an easy test to perform, plug the Assassin 3D into the other computer and install the software. If the controls work fine on the new system you will need a new Gameport .
Actually fairly simple to do, follow the directions that come with the card. We here at FPgaming recommend the CH Products Gamecard3 Automatic. When you install the Gamecard3 you will want to manually change the force setting to at least 15. If you get the Thrustmaster Game port you will want to make sure that the dial located in the card is above 7. If you are going to purchase a new Soundcard we recommend any of the SoundBlaster cards (not a SB Clone). Check out the Incompatible Gameports area.
